A love out of time. A spaceship built of secrets and murder.
Seventeen-year-old Amy joins her parents as frozen cargo aboard the vast spaceship Godspeed and expects to awaken on a new planet, three hundred years in the future. Never could she have known that her frozen slumber would come to an end fifty years too soon and that she would be thrust into the brave new world of a spaceship that lives by its own rules.
Amy quickly realizes that her awakening was no mere computer malfunction. Someone—one of the few thousand inhabitants of the spaceship —tried to kill her. And if Amy doesn’t do something soon, her parents will be next.
Now Amy must race to unlock Godspeed’s hidden secrets. But out of her list of murder suspects, there’s only one who matters: Elder, the future leader of the ship and the love she could never have seen coming.
I loved reading about the characters! Amy was different from what I expected. In the first couple chapters she seems very quiet and a little bit shy but she defies my expectations when she wakes up from being frozen for about 200 years. Amy’s loud and speaks her mind, she handles waking up completely alone on a space ship a lot better than I would have. For the first couple chapters she still frozen and you see her kind of loose her mind, she’s asleep but her mind is racing and I found that interesting to read. When I first found out that the main male characters name was Elder I was a little confused. Who names their kid Elder? But once you start reading it slowly starts to make sense. Elder came off very young and sweet, there were times where he was awkward but that was expected. In the end I liked both characters and I thought they worked well together.
The storyline was entertaining. There’s a murderer who is killing many of the people who are frozen on the ship. I found the plot to be fun and enjoyable to read and I didn’t expect who the murderer was going to be. I loved reading about how their society worked, it was so different and completely messed up it is.
The only thing I have to say about this book that I wasn’t a big fan of is that I wished the more action packed scene with Amy and Elder finding out who the murderer is and an important character’s death had a little more detail and lasted longer. I feel like it happened way to fast.
Overall, I rate this book a 4 out of 5. I liked all the characters, I thought they worked well together. The plot was fun to read and I didn’t feel bored while reading. The ending of the book had a lot of twists and turns that I did not predict. The book began to take a dystopian turn and I thought that made the book a lot more exciting. This book is the second book to kicked off the list! I hope you’ve enjoyed this post, you’ve just been reviewed.
