‘The Chaos of Longing is a brutally honest exploration of desire—physical, emotional, and spiritual. This revised and expanded edition contains over 50 pages of all-new material.
Organized in four sections – Inception, Longing, Chaos, and Epiphany – K.Y. Robinson’s debut poetry collection explores what it is to want in spite of trauma, shame, injustice, and mental illness. It is one survivor’s powerful testimony, and a love letter “to those who lie awake burning.”‘
Here comes the cliché thought that hopefully most of you are thinking “That is a gorgeous cover!” One of the main reasons why I chose this book was because of the beautiful book cover. Even though there’s always that warning when you chose a book with a pretty cover that the book won’t be that good but in this case I think the book defied that stereo type.
This book was enjoyable. I liked a lot of the poems, that’s for sure. That writing was pretty and filled with emotion. I liked how a some of the poems rhymed and just some ways that the poems flowed.
‘The Chaos of Longing’ is all about longing. A girl who longs to be loved, to be cared for and just to be ok. While reading I liked seeing the growth the character had. She was sad and alone but she later learns to move on and make her life better for herself. Some poems were really sad but as I continued reading the poems became lighter.
Another thing I like about this book was that the poems were all pretty short. I don’t mind long poems but I tend to like shorter poems better.
Even though this book was pretty and emotional, I wasn’t exactly deeply engrossed into this book as much as I was for the others. It took me a while to finish the book and I found myself daydreaming while reading this book.
Overall, I rate this book a 3 out 5. The book is a combination of pretty and sad. Just be worn that if you don’t like sad poems then this book is definitely not for you. This book is very emotional and raw but I will say that I enjoyed read this book. Make sure to subscribe to find out who will win the ‘rose’. I hope you’ve enjoyed this post, you’ve just been reviewed.
