‘Crazy Rich Asians’ by Kevin Kwan

When Rachel Chu agrees to spend the summer in Singapore with her boyfriend, Nicholas Young, she envisions a humble family home, long drives to explore the island, and quality time with the man she might one day marry. What she doesn’t know is that Nick’s family home happens to look like a palace, that she’ll ride in more private planes than cars, and that with one of Asia’s most eligible bachelors on her arm, Rachel might as well have a target on her back.

Initiated into a world of dynastic splendor beyond imagination, Rachel meets Astrid, the It Girl of Singapore society; Eddie, whose family practically lives in the pages of the Hong Kong socialite magazines; and Eleanor, Nick’s formidable mother, a woman who has very strong feelings about who her son should–and should not–marry.

Rose-Worthy Features

This book is amazing! I absolutely LOVED reading this book. If I had to describe this book in three words they would be: crazy, insane, hilarious!

The characters in this book are everything! Rachel is so sweet and charismatic and then there’s Nick who is caring and nice. There were funny characters, sweet character and crazy characters. I’m not even going to go into talking about Eleanor, Nicks mom. She is the definition of crazy.

The storyline is so engaging. When I was reading this book I looked down at the page number and realized I was on page 423! There were twist and turns that I didn’t expect especially towards the end.

I adored the relationship between Rachel and Nick! It was so sweet and genuine, I loved reading scenes with both of them together.

Final Thoughts

If you haven’t read this book, what are you doing? It’s so amazing and I already started tracking down the second book to read because I need to know what happens next. I definitely recommend this book. I watched the movie right after I finished the book and I can strongly say that the book is better. The movies good though and if you have time I would recommend watching it because its funny. I’m so happy to say that this book won Books That Are Movies Week!
