‘By Your Side’ by Kasie West

Description:

“An irresistible story from Kasie West that explores the timeless question: What do you do when you fall for the person you least expect?

When Autumn Collins finds herself accidentally locked in the library for an entire weekend, she doesn’t think things could get any worse. But that’s before she realizes that Dax Miller is locked in with her.

Autumn doesn’t know much about Dax except that he’s trouble. Between the rumors about the fight he was in (and that brief stint in juvie that followed it) and his reputation as a loner, he’s not exactly the ideal person to be stuck with. Still, she just keeps reminding herself that it is only a matter of time before Jeff, her almost-boyfriend, realizes he left her in the library and comes to rescue her.

Only he doesn’t come. No one does.

Instead it becomes clear that Autumn is going to have to spend the next couple of days living off vending-machine food and making conversation with a boy who clearly wants nothing to do with her. Except there is more to Dax than meets the eye.

As he and Autumn at first grudgingly, and then not so grudgingly, open up to each other, Autumn is struck by their surprising connection. But can their feelings for each other survive once the weekend is over and Autumn’s old life, and old love interest, threaten to pull her from Dax’s side?”

Rose-Worthy Features

The idea of the book seemed really interesting and a little romantic. I mean a girl and a guy both get trapped in the library over night and become close, whats not to love? The book I will admit is a pretty predictable but I knew that coming in and I didn’t really mind.

I thought Autumn was such a sweet character. She was playful, childish a bit naïve but overall I really liked reading about Autumn. I didn’t mind Dax. He had a hard past and seemed troubled but once I read more about him I thought he was nice.

Thorny Features

The writing itself wasn’t anything I was overly impressed with. It was fine but it wasn’t really great.

The plot was ok. Most of the book was spent talking about Autumn and Dax trapped in the library but after that it was just random. The boy Autumn liked in the beginning got into a accidents so now everyone just waiting for him to wake up from his coma. While all this drama is going on Atumn is trying to figure out her feelings for Dax.

Final Thoughts

Overall, I rate this book a 2.5 out of 5. This book was a cute short Valentines read. I wasn’t a big fan of this book but there were some cute moments between Autumn and Dax. If you don’t like predictable books then I don’t think you’ll like this book. Make sure to subscribe to find out which book is left standing! I hope you’ve enjoyed this post, you’ve just been reviewed.
