‘Gossip Girl” by Cecily von Ziegesar

“Welcome to New York City’s Upper East Side, where my friends and I live, go to school, play, and sleep—sometimes with each other.

S is back from boarding school, and if we aren’t careful, she’s going to win over our teachers, wear that dress we couldn’t fit into, steal our boyfriends’ hearts, and basically ruin our lives in a major way. I’ll be watching closely . . .

You know you love me,

gossip girl”

Rose-Worthy Features

If you love a good book with the glitz and glam of the upper east side of Manhattan then “Gossip Girl” by Cecily Von Ziegesar is the book for you! This book is all about the drama that goes on in the prestigious life of the teenagers in Manhattan. I’ll admit I have a little bit of a bias because when I was younger my sister and I were OBSESSED with the show “Gossip Girl”. I’m thrilled to say that I loved the book as much as I loved the show!

If you love complex characters, then this book is right up your alley. There is the glamorous and beautiful Serena, who just like in the tv show loved a good party. The ambitious and cunning Blair, who will always be my favorite character. With charming appearances from Nate, Chuck, and Dan. The most character growth came from Serena. She used to be the grand wild child but once she returns she tries her best to fix all of the mistakes she’s made, including her friendship with Blair. Unlike Serena, Blair isn’t too keen about rekindling their friendship. She’s enjoyed her time being in the spotlight and isn’t too excited about giving up her title of Queen B.

The plot of the book started off very intriguing. Serena came back from boarding school, there was a glamorous party going on, and I could tell right from the beginning that LOTS of drama was about to unfold. The book is mostly about Serena coming back and everyone’s reaction. Secrets begin to unfold, there are breakups and hookups and much more.

If relationship drama entertains you, then the excitement in this book will satisfy you. There is a love triangle between Nate, Blair, and Serena but Serena doesn’t know that because Serena kind of likes someone else. Then there’s Vanessa who likes the guy Serena may like, and the list goes on. It’s way to difficult to explain but take my word for it when I say there’s LOTS of drama!

I loved reading the little Gossip Girl blog post that the book had because it made me feel included in what everything was happening. I could practically hear Gossip Girls voice when she said: “You know you love me, xoxo Gossip Girl”.

Final Thoughts

Overall, I rate this book a 4.5 out of 5. This book is filled with drama! I loved each chapter and all the drama that came with it. The characters were entertaining and fun to read about. If you loved the tv show then you will definitely love the book just as much. Have you seen the tv show? Let me know in the comments if you watched and what your thoughts are on it. I hope you’ve enjoyed this post, xoxo The Book Bachelor!
